Jam sandwiches.
Today Apple class have been teaching Miss Mullett how to make a jam sandwich. We were learning about the importance of giving clear, descriptive instructions. Our second attempt was much better (and less sticky!).

Here are some photographs from Apple's science investigation to see what affected the growth rate of yeast.

This half terms work....

English
We will be:
·         Narrative Writing culminating in a story based in medieval times following our trip to Corfe Castle.
·         Instructional Texts based on how to make a mediaeval weapon which the children will be making in their DT.
·         Key skills including spelling, sentence starters, connectives, imagery and punctuation.
SPAG
We will be:
  • Focusing on spellings and spelling strategies
  • Grammar and punctuation focuses
Maths
We will be:
·       Using and applying units of measure (mass, volume,length)
·       Converting between units of measure
  • Reading Scales
  • Doing more work on the four rules
  • Using percentages and decimals
  • Working out multi step word problems
  • Using and applying knowledge of fractions
Science
We will be:
  • Looking at harmless and harmful microbes and micro-organisms and the role they play in day to day lives.
  • Experimenting with the respiration rate of yeast.
  • Light – How we see, light, light diagrams and the path that light takes to reach the eye.
Art & DT
We will be:
  • Researching weaponry used in the Middle Ages
  • Planning, designing and making our own Medieval Trebuchets.
Music
We will be:
  • Broadening our awareness of classical music.
  • Experimenting with Cyclic Rhythms including some medieval melodies and Gregorian chants.

History
We will be:

  • Finding out about the history of King Edward and the link between Corfe Castle and Shaftesbury Abbey
  • Sketch, draw and explain how a Trebuchet works
  • Create a timeline of Medieval and Tudor history
  • Looking at life in Tudor Times linking to 'Gunners Boy' on a Tudor Ship
PE
  • Learning about professional dance routines and dancing to the count of 8. Culminating in creating our very own dance sequence to ‘Walk Like Rhianna
RE
·         Looking at the significance of Mary being the Mother of Jesus
·         Looking at incarnation and why God chose to send Jesus to Earth this way.
Computing

PSHE
We will be:
·         Developing our exploration of ‘getting on and falling out’.
·         Look at ways to ‘say no to bullying’.
