Exploring the heart..
To start our new topic we explored a pig's heart.....it was easy to see the chambers of the heart and aorta! The children were fascinated and it helped launch the children's homework project for this half term.

Getting to the heart of the matter...
To start our new topic we explored a pig's heart... it was easy to see the chambers of the heart and it helped launch the children's homework project for this half term.

The Circulatory System
In Science we have begun our new topic by looking at the human
circulatory system, namely the heart, blood vessels and blood that flows
through them. The children know how the
blood carries oxygen from the lungs (and other things) around the body before returning
to the heart, via the lungs, to start the process all over again. Did you know
the human heart beats on average 100,000 times a day!
We even dissected a real pig’s heart so we could see some of
the main blood vessels and what a real heart looks like!
We want the children to produce what they know about the human
circulatory system in any way they wish – this could include a painting,
drawing, model (card, paper, clay, lego, material etc), diagram, power point, poem
or anything else that the children can come up with – they will be encouraged to be as creative as possible!
We can’t wait to see what the children come
up with – if you have any questions please see Mr Preston. Don’t forget they
are due in on Monday 21st March.

Mouldy Bread
In science we have been looking at what makes bread go mouldy as part of our 'Classifying Critters' topic. We discovered cold prevents bread from going mouldy as it stops the bacteria from reproducing but where it is warm and moist, they loved it!
