Mr Preston's PE Group - the next One Direction?

The children in Mr Preston's maths group have worked exceptionally hard on creating their own dance routine in PE. They had to figure out the count of 8 in 'Walk like Rhianna' and then think of their own moves! To end the topic the children then dressed in dance gear of their choice and danced on the stage together with flashing disco lights!

Ready, aim.....

There are now ten trebuchets which year 6 have constructed that look something like this.
We cannot wait to attach our ammunition and enjoy catapulting it across the playground!
Make sure you ask your children how they made these and how excited they are to use them this week!

Year 6, you should be very proud of all your hard work and finished products!

Challenge time!

Can you tell Miss Mullett what fraction of these sweets are:
Red? Yellow? Green? Black? Orange?
Yellow and black?
Yellow, green and orange?

Can you write the fractions in their simplest form??

Make sure you write your answers and workings out on a piece of paper to show me!

The future of music?

Along with 'paper bowl guitars' and 'ruler twanging' we have been creating kazoos from straws! We discover that the shorter the straw, the higher the pitch of the sound created.
Remember: when the vibrations are SLOW, the pitch is LOW
Tomorrow, we will be communicating via cups and string and exploring how sound travels.

Exploring Pitch

Today year 6 have been exploring sound. Ask your children about the instruments they have made using straws!

Christmas is coming!

Today, to get us into the Christmas spirit, Apple class have been creating Christmas decorations for a mobile which will hang in our school hall. We each painted one of our hands and made handprints on our bauble. Once this had dried, we drew on little snowmen to create these fantastic decorations!

Merry Christmas!

A Snippet of Creation...

Today Apple class acted out the Christian Creation story using sounds and movements. Here is a little snippet of what we created! Enjoy!

How to create a medieval banquet...

Year six have been working in groups to write instructions for creating a Medieval banquet. Today we presented our ideas to the class. Using our success criteria, we commented on what worked well and what we could improve next time.
